On Fridays our artist in residence, Cath, visits the Nursery. Throughout the year she leads a series of creative workshops with children and families including; Clay and photography workshops, Exploring food using our senses and Making Things Together using a range of materials and tools. Developing creativity is an essential part of the curriculum at Woodlands Park. We believe that the benefits of being creative are wide-ranging for young children. Being involved in creative activities is not only fun and engaging for children but evidence also suggests that it is important for supporting a range of skills and competencies including:

  • Collaboration and cooperation; enabling children to work together on a shared task or experience.
  • Developing appreciation and perspective; helping children to look at the world around them in a range of different ways.
  • Communication; developing better communication and language skills through listening, talking, discussing, writing and drawing.
