Marvellous Mark-Making

One day a week, a different day each week, we all participate in Marvellous Mark-Making session in the morning and afternoon. These sessions are approximately 20-30 minutes in duration. We find different ways of mark making whether it's with pencils, paint or in shaving foam! Mark making is the process we go through before we even form any letters.

To help our muscles in our fingers get ready for mark making we do "dough disco" every session with play dough. We roll it, squash it and squeeze the play dough to some funky music! There are also plenty of opportunities for writing, forming letters and drawing using motivating materials such as white boards, chalk and ICT programmes etc.

At the end of the session we share the meanings of our marks with each other thinking about all the marvellous marks we’ve made.
