Celebrating Lunar New Year
At our nursery, we embraced the joy of Lunar New Year with a fun and hands-on cooking activity in the Blue Room on 23rd January 2025. The children had an exciting time making pasta dough, rolling it into noodles and creating a delicious vegetable noodle stir fry.
Lunar New Year is a time for celebration, family and sharing traditions and we were thrilled to bring this experience to life for the children.

National Storytelling Week
National Storytelling Week
Join us in celebrating National Storytelling Week, a wonderful opportunity to explore the magic of stories! Stories inspire creativity, build empathy and help young children develop key skills. They also provide a chance to relax and escape into new worlds, sparking imaginations along the way.
Here are some ideas to enjoy storytelling at home:
- Create a cosy reading corner and share your favourite books together.
- Act out a beloved story using costumes or props.
- Encourage your child to invent their own tale and share it with the family.
- Try storytelling without a book—make up a story together.

Wear Red Day: Show Racism the Red CardTBC - Oct 2024
Wear Red Day: Show Racism the Red Card
Wear Red Day – Show Racism the Red Card
The UK’s leading anti-racism educational charity
Show Racism the Red Card was established in January 1996, thanks in part to a donation by then Newcastle United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop.
In 1990s Newcastle, Shaka was at a petrol station near St James’ Park when he was confronted with a group of young people shouting racist abuse at him. After one of the group realised that they had been shouting at Shaka Hislop, the Newcastle United football player, they came over to ask for an autograph.
Dear Parents and Carers,
As an actively anti-racist school, we will be supporting the educational charity, Show Racism the Red Card’s annual Wear Red Day this year, which will be taking place on TBC October 2024.
We value the importance of true equality for all. Still in 2024, we are aware as a community, that the message of unity, equality and anti-discrimination has never been more needed or more relevant.
As a school we are encouraging the children and staff to wear red. You may also wish to donate to this fantastic charity and a bucket will be available on the reception.
Your donation will help the charity to: produce and distribute educational resources, develop activities to encourage people, including young people, to challenge racism and work to stamp out racism in the game of football and other sports.
Change Hearts. Change Minds. Change Lives.
Thank you in advance for your support. Woodlands Park Staff Team

Recycle Week14th- 20th October 2024
Recycle Week
Recycle Week will take place between 14th- 20th October 2024
This year's theme – Rescue Me – is all about saving recyclable items from ending up in the rubbish! ♻️✨
As part of our Starting School Framework, we'll dive into recycling by exploring the materials we use at the nursery and discussing what our packaging and resources are made from. 🗑️➡️🌍
We'll also get creative by reusing materials for junk modelling and incorporating loose parts into our garden activities. 🎨🌿 Let’s turn trash into treasure! 🌟
