Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)

Woodlands Park is an inclusive Nursery School and Children’s Centre.

We are committed to ensuring that our setting is accessible to all children and to making sure that children are able to reach their full potential. All children have the right to be able to access the Early Years Foundation Stage and all our staff have a duty to meet the needs of all the children attending the setting.

We welcome children and families with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities to our setting. We support the ideal of including all children from the start. We believe that all children need to know about how we are different to each other and have very different abilities, but can still learn together and from each other. We strongly believe this ethos enriches the learning environment for all children and adults in our Centre and the wider community. It is important to grow up knowing that people have different needs and knowing how to support and care for others.

Each child has a unique identity and a unique way of living and learning and developing alongside other people. Therefore we plan for every child individually and change our provision to meet each child’s learning and development needs. We work closely with parents to make each child’s first experience of school enjoyable and beneficial.

In line with our mission statement, we want all children at Woodlands Park to achieve their full potential and to be happy, healthy and safe.
