Governors
Our Governing Body is made up of representatives from the community, parents, staff and Local Authority.
Working in partnership with the head and other staff, governors are responsible for:
- the Centre's aims and policies;
- improving standards of teaching and achievement;
- appointing and performance managing the Head Teacher;
- setting the Centre's budget plan and monitoring expenditure;
- drawing up an action plan after an inspection, and monitoring the success of the plan.
Governors meet together twice a term with meetings usually running from about 6.00pm to 9.00pm on a Tuesday.
Governors are also asked to join one of the governor committees that meet 3 times a year:
- Resources;
- Curriculum and Training; or
- Children, Families and Communities.
Governors also take on a role with special responsibility for an area such as governor training or a particular area of the Centre’s work. Once elected, governors have a three year term of office.
